Briefing is the process in which the designer and client meet. A discussion is started and the client states what he or she wants. The designer takes notes and asks questions to have a mental picture of the client's needs and specifications. This is the first step in the creative process.
After the meeting, the designer begins to investigate the target market. The client should have stated the age range and their company's image. With this in mind the artist searches for designs and trends already made for that market. This is done to:
1. Create an appealing design
2. Try to make something different to set their design apart from the rest.
Then comes the fun part! Let your imagination run wild. Brainstorming is the process in which a person writes or draws on anything they can find in the moment of inspiration, like a piece of paper, sudden ideas on a topic or theme. Write anything that comes to mind. Look around you're environment, you never know what can spark the idea you need. Try to do this for 5 minutes (or longer if the ideas keep flowing). After you're dried out of ideas, leave the paper out of your sight and relax.
